Overview

If you love mystery stories and want to escape the gloomy winter weather for a few exciting hours, then Stephanie Ahlen's novel 'Windward Side' is the perfect book for you! This exciting murder mystery takes you to the exotic island paradise of Hawaii. Among the many charms of this fascinating novel is the extensive information about the people, nature and culture of these Polynesian islands that will transport you there in spirit if not in body.
On the island of Oahu in Hawaii, an English police officer is found murdered in a luxury hotel. The Honolulu Police Department is investigating the crime, and the London police have sent one of their own officers to assist them. Detective Lauren Bradley began her career as a police officer in Honolulu many years before but left the force suddenly due to an unpleasant incident. Against her will, she is ordered to return to the Pacific Island where she must confront her past and her hostile Hawaiian colleagues. These include her former lover Kalei, who is now in charge of the investigation. The hunt for a murderer in paradise begins.

About the Author

About the Author:
Stephanie Ahlen lived in Hawaii for many years and is intimately familiar with the Islands. It was while living there that she was inspired to write a mystery novel set in those exotic surroundings on the other side of the world. In the ensuing years she painstakingly pieced together many hand-written fragments to create the first Honolulu murder mystery centered around Kalei, the Hawaii police officer, and Lauren, his former partner. This carefully crafted novel is filled with fascinating information about the people, culture and nature of these Polynesian islands that so many visit but so few know very much about.

Stephanie lives and works in both Germany and on a sailboat in the North Atlantic.

About the Translator:
Nicholas Voge is a professional translator of both Japanese and German and a retired airline pilot. He lives in Hawaii where he spends his free time restoring old motorcycles, surfing and writing Japanese poetry.
