Overview

Credibility is a very precious and valuable commodity. It is hard to amass and exceedingly easy to squander. Many people believe that the Black Church has lost all of its credibility. They believe the Black Church is operating out of a severe "credibility-deficit". However, In 2021, the Barna Research Group published a groundbreaking multidimensional report entitled, 'Trends in the Black Church'. This report reveals surprising and encouraging data which shows that the Black Church still possesses a modicum of credibility amongst Black people. While this credibility is being held onto tenuously, we must take bold and courageous risks if we're going to maintain and increase it. This is the only way the Black Church can have lasting spiritual and social impact within the communities she serves.

Isaiah Robertson has articulated the daring yet necessary risks the Black Church must take to be credible and trustworthy into the 21st century and beyond.  With precision, Isaiah weaves the history of the Black Church into its modern-day witness. He creates a stunning tapestry that reveals the hard choices we must make. The suggestions within this book are provocative and thought-provoking. Some will resonate, some will aggravate, all will stimulate reflection and contemplation. The journey towards solidifying the credibility and lasting impact of the Black Church is fraught with challenges and risks. This book is a companion on the journey, assisting in identifying those risks and clarifying the necessary choices.
