Overview

B"H (B'ezrat HaShem - with the help of HaShem). "HaShem, G-d of hosts, happy is the man who trusts only in You! HaShem, merciful G-d, save us! O King, answer us on the day we call! You alone are my secret hiding place!" (The Breslov Siddur, Weekday, p179). This part of the prayer service establishes HaShem alone as my secret hiding place. If we accept this, and if we believe in the importance of this, then we must consider how to apply that.

I would surmise that we each have such a place. A secret hiding place where we can escape the challenges of life, the often-overwhelming aura of the world. A place we can visit even in the midst of a crowd. Where that place is, is unique to each person. Some may seek just another worldly place to escape, but as you know, even the temporary escape is not lasting. Whereas, a secret hiding place that includes HaShem, will last even beyond the time spent there.

In sharing this, I hope and pray it will be useful for others in their journey toward HaShem. To realize that all the other things in life one has tried, provide only temporary satisfaction. Maybe there will be something to share with others; useful in a discussion group; or someone else's secret hiding place.

This is written from a personal Jewish/Noahide perspective without the idolatry of xianity or any religion (note: Judaism isn't a religion, it's a covenant with HaShem). At the end, there are resources for additional research and growth.

Baruch HaShem!

About the Author

Born: James Moehsmer, Mar 14, 1958 (Adar 22, 5718). Writing under my chosen Jewish name: Ya’akov ben Avraham. Married, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 20 yrs of military service - retired. Twenty years plus of study and research looking for what HaShem truly expects. Writing for over 40 years. A simple person; given a 1% Jewish ethnicity, a soul, thrown into the body of a gentile at birth, diverted off course (in my opinion), for HaShem’s purpose, to land 70 miles from the Chabad Headquarters at birth, to go through a process from error to truth, from idolatry in the xtian church to HaShem; raised in the Catholic church, going through various flavors of xianity, a solid year (2012) doing volunteer work on an Indian reservation, 6 total in serving there, including a 3 month stint filling in for a Pastor (forgive me HaShem), and at the end of that time a visit by a Jewish woman from Israel, whose prayer in Hebrew turned me completely around toward Israel; then to a messianic Torah group, and finally to Judaism (a covenant with HaShem, not a religion), Torah and HaShem. Constantly learning and growing closer to HaShem.
