In this second installment of the Hope and Glory series (following The Spice King) Camden takes readers to the McKinley White House for a captivating romance. Caroline Delacroix is First Lady Ida McKinley’s personal secretary. Secret Service agent Nathaniel Trask has been put in charge of protecting the president from anarchists and, though Caroline is a natural-born rule breaker, Nathaniel needs her as an ally as he tightens up controls on who is coming in and out of the White House. The two are attracted to each other from the off, but when Nathaniel learns that Caroline has a twin brother who has been arrested for treason in Cuba, he is furious. Despite Nathaniel’s disapproval, Caroline pushes for her brother’s freedom using all means at her disposal. After McKinley is assassinated on Nathaniel’s watch, the agent is a broken man and Caroline is out of a job. Caroline puts her trust in God as she struggles to help Nathaniel and her brother, whose lives intersect in surprising ways. This will be a hit with series fans. (June)
