This collection of ten articles deals with the increasing role of sapiental soteriology in Early Judaism and Early Christianity as provoked by the Hellenistic concept of knowledge. This sapiental soteriology is based on preceding conceptions of Wisdom as found in the Old Testament and in the Ancient Near East. The studies emphasise the correlation of Early Jewish ideas of Wisdom and the Apocalyptic Wisdom as presented in the New Testament and contemporary non-Christian literature.
