Blou Erfporsie (Blue Inheritance) is the life and love story of Nico and Marthé Geldenhuys. They were true pioneers in the medical missionary work of the Dutch Reformed Church in the Transkei, where they worked at Isilimela (1940 -1956) and Thafalofefe (1970 - 1976) Mission Stations. Set against the luscious backdrop of the Transkei, the Xhosa people and the beautiful sea and landscape of the Wild Coast, one of their children tells of the weal and woe of life on a mission station and of their parents' struggle to make difficult decisions in obeying God's calling.
An interval of 14 years in Paarl in the Western Cape was necessary to give their eight children a good education, but being true missionaries, they longed to be back at their true calling as doctor and nurse on a mission station.
The story ends with their retirement at Stilbaai and Nico's death in 1988. Marthé continued the good work and renewed her close relations with her big family. Today, at the age of 97 she is this family's chief intercessor. More than fifty children, grand children and great grand children are the people that were (and still are) raised with Faith, Love and Hope as children of God - a true Royal Blue Legacy.
